FRESNO, Calif., May 1, 2025  – Better Living Comp, in partnership with The PATH Alliance, proudly supports the 12th Annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, taking place May 5–9, 2025. This important initiative, led by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), aims to raise awareness about fall hazards and emphasize the critical importance of fall prevention across the construction industry.

Better Living Comp urges all contractor members and industry partners to actively participate in this nationwide effort to reduce fall-related incidents and enhance safety on job sites.

Falls from elevation remain the leading cause of death in construction, accounting for a significant number of workplace fatalities each year. Stand-Down Week provides an opportunity for general contractors, subcontractors, and workers alike to pause work, revisit safety protocols, conduct training, and engage in meaningful conversations around fall prevention strategies.

Key Objectives of the 2025 Stand-Down to Prevent Falls:

  • Raise Awareness: Educate workers and employers on the dangers of fall incidents, including hazards such as improper ladder and scaffold use, unprotected edges and openings, lack of guardrails, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
  • Promote Safety Best Practices: Encourage the adoption of industry-leading practices in equipment use, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hazard communication.
  • Foster a Safety Culture: Reinforce the value of a work environment where safety is prioritized, and employees feel empowered to report hazards.
  • Provide Resources and Tools: Distribute safety materials, training content, and host expert-led sessions to help contractors educate their teams and maintain compliance.

“At The PATH Alliance, we are firmly committed to helping our members build and maintain a strong culture of safety—because the well-being of their teams is our top priority,” said Jon Wroten, Senior Vice President of The PATH Alliance. “The 2025 Fall Prevention Stand-Down offers a critical opportunity to refocus on fall hazards, one of the most preventable causes of injury and death in construction. By coming together during this week, we can take meaningful action to create safer, more productive job sites across the industry.”

How Contractors Can Get Involved:

  • Hold a Safety Stand-Down: Dedicate time during the week to pause work and conduct safety meetings focused on fall prevention.
  • Educate and Train: Offer hands-on demonstrations, toolbox talks, and training that target fall-related hazards specific to each job site.
  • Share Success Stories: Connect with the Better Living Comp community by sharing strategies and lessons learned from your fall prevention efforts.
  • Access Free Safety Resources: Take advantage of BLC’s available toolkits, videos, and training aids designed to support contractor safety programs.

Better Living Comp encourages all construction professionals to share their participation using the hashtag #StandDown4Safety. NOTE: OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and requirements may differ. California employers should refer to Cal/OSHA resources for information, guidance and regulation compliance at https://www.dir.ca.gov/dosh/ .

Participating in the Stand-Down is a crucial step toward preventing fall-related injuries and fostering a safer construction environment. Let’s make safety a collective priority.
