Encouraging Safety and Awareness Across the Industry

FRESNO, Calif., April 11, 2025  – Better Living Comp and The PATH Alliance are proud to announce the 2025 Construction Struck-by Stand-Down, scheduled for the week of April 21st through April 25th. As a leading advocate for safety in the construction industry, Better Living Comp urges its contractor members and industry partners to actively participate in this important initiative aimed at raising awareness and preventing struck-by incidents on job sites.

Struck-by accidents remain one of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities in the construction industry. The Stand-Down Week serves as an opportunity for all stakeholders—from general contractors to subcontractors—to pause and review safety protocols, conduct safety training, and engage in meaningful discussions about reducing the risks of struck-by hazards.

Key Objectives of the 2025 Struck-by Stand-Down:

  • Raise Awareness: Educating workers and employers about the hazards associated with struck-by incidents, such as moving equipment, falling objects, and machinery.
  • Promote Safety Best Practices: Encourage contractors to adopt and reinforce best practices in equipment use, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hazard communication.
  • Foster a Safety Culture: Reinforce the importance of creating an environment where safety is a top priority, and workers feel empowered to identify and report potential risks.
  • Provide Resources and Tools: Offer safety resources, training materials, and expert-led sessions to help contractors educate their teams and improve safety compliance.

“We are committed to helping our members maintain a culture of safety and health on their job sites. The 2025 Struck-by Stand-Down provides an essential opportunity to refocus on one of the most preventable causes of injury and death in construction,” said Jon Wroten, Senior Vice President of The PATH Alliance. “By taking proactive steps during this week, we can work together to reduce these incidents and create safer, more productive work environments.”

How Contractors Can Participate:

  • Stop Work and Hold a Safety Meeting: Contractors are encouraged to pause work for a brief period during the week to hold safety stand-downs on struck-by hazards.
  • Train and Educate Workers: Provide hands-on demonstrations, safety talks, and training sessions that focus on recognizing and mitigating struck-by risks.
  • Share Success Stories and Best Practices: Engage with the Better Living Comp community by sharing strategies, tools, and lessons learned from implementing effective safety measures.
  • Utilize Safety Resources: Access free resources, including toolkits and videos, available through Better Living Comp to support safety efforts.

Participation in the Stand-Down is an essential step towards reducing struck-by accidents and promoting a safer workplace for all construction workers. We encourage all of our contractor members to make safety a priority and join us in this vital week of action.
